Murph Marathon

To understand the Murph Marathon, it's essential to first know what a Murph workout is. The Murph workout, named in honour of Navy Lieutenant Michael P. Murphy, a Medal of Honor recipient who was killed in action. Originally called "Body Armor," the Murph workout is a challenging regimen that honours Lt. Murphy's memory and dedication.

The Murph Marathon aka Murphathon is as follows:

Duration and Gear

Jack and Ben will wear a 10kg weighted vest for all components within the desired 12-hour time frame.

Sequential Workout Process:

They will complete 10 consecutive Murph workouts, performing each exercise without breaks between sets:

Each Murph workout includes:

1 mile run (1.61 km)
Then, they complete in a sequential manner, where each set of exercises must be completed in order before moving on to the next:

100 pull-ups
200 push-ups
300 air squats

Finally, another 1 mile run

Additional Challenge:

After finishing all 10 Murph workouts, they run an extra 10 kilometres while still wearing the weighted vest to bring the total distance to 42 kilometres.

Accomplishments:

By the end of the event, they will have achieved:

1000 pull-ups in total
2000 push-ups in total
3000 air squats in total
Covered a marathon distance of running (42.1km or 26.2 miles)

A Chance to Change Lives

With $50,000, we can make a significant contribution to a much-needed school for 400 children living in extreme poverty in Cambodia. In this impoverished region, children are often pushed into labour from as young as 9 years old due to the dire lack of local opportunities. Many are forced to leave their homes and travel to Thailand to work illegally, a situation that not only robs them of their childhood but also traps their families in a relentless cycle of poverty.
