Our Family's Charitable Journey
A Legacy of Giving
Our family has a long history of leveraging physical achievement to raise funds for those less fortunate. We're also long-term supporters of charitable organizations like World Vision, Smith Family, Red Cross and the Royal Flying Doctor Service.
Fair Go Australia and Brighter Futures
Our Dad, Adrian Hondros, began his long-term support of Fair Go Australia, now known as Brighter Futures. Led by John Godwin, this organization supports underprivileged and marginalized youth in our inner cities through mentoring and community programs.
Through various running events, including Sydney City to Surf, half marathons and full marathons in Sydney, Melbourne and New York, our Dad raised over $125,000 for Fair Go Australia.
Hark Angel and Myanmar
We partnered with Hark Angel charity and its founder, Richie Harkham. We raised over $35,000 to build a senior schoolhouse in an isolated village in Myanmar. Our family had the privilege to visit both a village opening a funded school and the village where we were building our schoolhouse.
Jack's Fundraising for Conviction Group
Jack established an annual fundraiser initiative for Conviction Group. He completed two challenging long-distance running events: A 65km run and a 60km run. Through these two endurance running events, Jack successfully raised a total of $27,900 for Conviction Group. This non-profit organization focuses on delivering educational programs to young people, encouraging them to re-evaluate their perspectives on crucial health issues and providing them with tools for better decision-making.
Ben's 10-Hour Challenge for SWAN Australia
Ben completed a grueling 10-hour challenge in May 2023 to raise funds for Syndromes Without A Name (SWAN) Australia. This challenge consisted of: 1000 pull-ups, 2000 push-ups and a full marathon. Through this intense physical feat, Ben successfully raised over $20,000 for SWAN.
His motivation came from his work at Care Culture, where he gained firsthand experience of the challenges faced by families with children who have disabilities. Ben chose to support SWAN because of their important work in advocating for children with undiagnosed and rare genetic conditions.
Current Project: Cambodia
Our experiences in Myanmar have inspired our current project with Hark Angel: raising funds to build a school in Cambodia. We're excited to continue our family's tradition of making a positive impact on communities in need.
